THE BEST STORY EVER: FIELD TRIP BY TOMMY COKER

A few weeks (yes weeks, don't judge!) after Tommy's last day at school I was cleaning out his back pack and came across this story he had written. I got the biggest kick out of it and I have had it hanging in my nail polish room. I thought you guys might like it too, so I decided to scan it in and share with all. The picture he drew went with the story and he did a really good job on that too.

Tommy loves to hear me read your comments to him, so if you have time and would like to leave him a few words, I know he would love it :)

MEET MY 94 YR OLD AUNT HELEN

Here is my Great Aunt Helen - she rocks! She is 94 and came all the way from California for a visit. I wish I could express how awesome this lady is. I am just so glad that she is here and that I am getting to spend time with her. I tried explaining to Little how awesome it is that he is getting to know his Great Great Aunt.

I'm planning an outside evening party this Saturday for her, so I have been a little side tracked this week. I do have 5 more Ruby Kisses polishes that I am going to show you though, so look forward to that.

I also wanted to share this epic food fail I had last night. I was attempting to do rainbow cakes. I didn't have blue & purple food coloring on hand, so I had to improvise a bit. I substituted one of the colors for black, so the black parts you are seeing ARE NOT burned.

This is what it looks like when the oh so carefully prepared cakes don't want to come out of the pan!! Grrrrrr, I was so upset about this.

I did fill the pans a bit too full and cut the over flow parts off, which you will see below:

Those look kinda cool though, right? I glazed these little rounds but have no clue what to do with the other mess of cake.

This pan was the culprit. After reading online today, I see regular no-stick spray doesn't work, which is what I used. I guess I need Baker's Joy and I also think I needed a thicker cake, this one might have have been a little too light. Live and learn I guess :)

A PUPPY, A GANGSTER & A GO CART

That's right, your eyes do not deceive you! That is Boss Dog (aka Trouble) back for a visit to see his momma, daddy and sister. His momma and sister were a little cold to him at first. (See Dinky in the pic above, she wasn't to thrilled with him being that close to her, lol) Banana and him had a great time running around playing with each other though. It was great to get to have him over to play with for a day. When he first walked in, he went straight to Dinky and then tried to nurse on her! Of course, she was having none of that, but it was still sweet that he did that. I caught him in the dog bed with Fat Meats, she was under covers and he was trying to get her and she was having fun with him. It was funny how just alike Boss Dog and Banana are and how alike Dinky and Fat Meats are.

I have been meaning to scan and post this picture for a few weeks now and finally did it - go Brooke!! We did this over spring break. As soon as Tommy saw that big gun, he wanted to do these pictures. They really turned out so cute, I just wanna pinch his fat little cheeks when I look at this picture. When Tommy was just a baby, he had the chubbiest cheeks (see pics below) and this picture just reminds me of that.

One last thing, here are two short videos of Tommy driving a go cart for the first time ever! He had a blast and did a really good job for his first time!

Thanks for looking and I will have some nail polish stuff up in a little bit!

WHO WANTS PUPPY PICS??

How sweet is this baby Fat Meaty? Don't you just want to squeeze her fat little tummy?

LMAO at Nanner's pose!! Doesn't it look like one of those old Sears family portrait poses?

Nanner likes the babies warm bed and has taken it over!

Super enhance on his little facial expression I caught on camera! I love this silly boy!

Now for a bit of sad news :( This little boy is no longer with us, he went to live in his new house. Luckily he just went to live with my BF's sister so I will still be able to see him on a regular basis. Plus she lives on a few miles away, so he is close. They named him Boss Dog :) It was still really hard being without him and Fat Meaty cried that first night, it was really sad. The picture above makes me think of an egg with that yellow blanket and him all white and snuggled in the middle.

I know several of you had wanted to know if I was planning on keeping the puppies and I wasn't ignoring the question, I just didn't know yet what we were going to do. We are keeping Fat Meaty.

And lastly here is a picture of Little going hard! I love my kiddly wink, he is the best! :)

PUPPY UPDATE

Well I hope everyone had a great Christmas! Mine was good. I got lots of new nail polish I can't wait to try out - that Santa Claus sure does know my taste! It's almost as if I picked it out all by myself and stuck it in my own stocking. . . .

The puppies are doing good. No signs of eyes opening yet but they sure are getting big! Especially the little white female. She is like doubled in size and is double the size of the little boy.

Can you see the size difference in the two??

I have named her "FAT MEATIES". Fat meaties is what I usually call the back sides of doggy legs, the really squishy part of their upper thigh - well she is just a big ball of squishy fat meat so that's what I'm calling her! lol - I don't have normal names for my animals...

He was sort of hidden this morning so I couldn't get a really good picture of him. I haven't come up with a name for him yet, I'm still working on it.

How was everyone's Christmas? Anyone get any cool nail polish related goods that they want to share with us? Would love to hear about them in the comments section :)

I know I have been MIA for a looooong time now and I'm sorry. I have just had a lot of stuff going on in my life right now and doing nails just hasn't been in the mix. I will be back, but I'm sorry I can't give you all an exact date, I'm hoping by the end of the month things will be back to normal around here. Wanna hear a quick list of all that has been eating away at my time??? Ok, well here goes:
car trouble (without a car for almost a week!!)
Computer down at work
School starting
Little starting football
Little's Birthday (Today!! He is 8!!!)
My Mom's birthday (on the 9th, a milestone #60!!!)
Baking about 10 dozen cookies for my Grandma

is that enough to grant me a reprieve?? God I hope so!

Anyway, I miss you guys but I promise I WILL BE BACK :) In the mean time, here are a few family pics.

Little at Baconfest in Enid - plates of bacon and bottles of beer, does it get any better??? Top that with a free pig nose and it's simply Heaven!

Nanners tricking you all into thinking he isn't a hellion on wheels!!

Little's first day of second grade.

The double cross peace sign must be Little's signature pose this year!

See what lengths Dinks will go to for a morsel of food? I love that girl!!

UPDATES!

Sorry ladies, no time for blogging today. I am busy planning and getting cupcakes ready for Ollie's first birthday party and his Mom's birthday party this Sunday.

You've come a long way Ollie.
Happy 1st Birthday :)

XOXOXO

I did want to answer a couple of questions.

Hypnotic Swirls plate - That came from the Chez Delaney plates #H11.

The other thing was the something special in the pictures in my last post was Little photo bombing my nail polish swatch shoots! lol You guys have good eyes, it took me a while to find the picture of my ring showing, lol. So no, I'm not engaged or have a new ring. I usually wear my rings on the other hand, but it has been sort of swollen and they fit better on my left.

I hope you all have a great weekend & keep my Mom in your thoughts and send her good vibes, she is going through a little rough patch right now :)

MY FIRST CHAIR REDO!

While over at A DAY IN THE LIFE OF DOLLFACE - she posted about a blog called BETTER AFTER, it's all about awesome before and after pics of stuff people have re-done to look awesome. I can tell you I have been hooked at looking at this blog! I can't stop! I was so inspired I decided to tackle my own chair redo.

I got the chair and the desk at a garage sale many years ago for I believe around $30-$40 bucks. I have the desk in storage right now, but plan on painting it to match the chair soon. The chair has been in my son's room for him to use at his desk.

As you can see the white material of the chair has gotten worn and dirty. If you look closely I think I even see a little hunk of orange Cheeto on the seat, lol. Most of my wood furniture is black so I decided on painting the chair a glossy black. I really wanted it to look really glossy when I got done. And I picked out a muted turquoise blue and gray material to recover the seat with. My after pics aren't the best, I just took them this morning and I don't think there was enough light yet to get more color accurate pics. And when I used the flash, well you can see how it just bounced off the glossy paint. But you get the idea anyway!

I'm just so pleased with myself, not only for how easy it was but how quick and cheap it was to do. I paid $6 for the material (30% sale at Hobby Lobby!) and the spray paint was $5, I already had a can of Kilz primer so I used that. I went and bought the stuff last night and was done in like 2 hours. Of course I let the chair dry overnight, but it was basically done that quick.

A few weeks ago, me and mom tackled a piano bench. I told her I was looking for a little table to have outside and she found this piano bench at a junk store for only $5. We thought perfect, since the seat opens up I could store my grill utensils in there.

Here it is before:

And here it is after:

This project took us a full weekend, but there were more coats of paint involved in this because of the crackle look I wanted. The cost was a little bit more expensive too, but I have lots of leftover paint to use on future projects. The paint was specially mixed to match OU Sooner Football's colors of crimson and cream. I also left the inside of the lid cream and plan on adding some sort of OU Sooners something to it, but I haven't found just the perfect thing yet. All in all though, I'm really pleased with my new bench!

Here is a glimpse of my next project I have in the works. These country style chicken and rooster are getting a makeover! They aren't done yet, I'm putting a black glaze over them, a technique I saw on Better After that I have been itching to try!!

P.S. If you wanna check out Dollface's awesome before and after pics of her house CLICK HERE!
