Skincare Routine.

I think I'm probably more interested in buying skincare products than makeup, this is mainly due to never having nice skin (oversized pores, bleugh!) so my skincare routine is important to me.
I also think it's important to change your routine regularly, as your skin can get used to certain products. There have been products that have made my skin look amazing for a couple of months and then suddenly, they just don't have the same affect anymore so I move onto something else.
The picture above shows what I'm using at the moment, I try to rotate what I use so I have a couple of exfoliating washes as well as a couple of cleansers, moisturisers and face masks.
This is just a fraction of my collection, but these are what are working best for me at the moment.
If you've read my last few posts, you will have noticed that I've become a massive fan of Liz Earle recently. And to anyone who has tried Liz Earle products, you will know how amazing they are! The products that I have (shown above) are Liz Earle Cleanse & Polish Hot Cloth Cleanser, Liz Earle Skin Tonic, Liz Earle Skin Repair Moisturiser (sample size) and two muslin cloths. I love that Liz Earle is made up of all naturally sourced ingredients, and that it works! I usually use the Hot Cloth Cleanser at least once a day (usually at night), and I think it's the best cleanser I have ever tried.
The Skin Tonic is also a great toner, but I don't use this every day but I find the three products work really well together.

This is a new range from Neutrogena, and I have to say my favourite so far. For those who haven't tried it, I would absolutely recommend. I exfoliate every three days or so, I used to do it everyday because I liked the way my skin felt afterwards but I have a feeling this was irritating my skin and making me break out. I have both the day moisturiser and the night moisturiser; the day moisturiser, although really lovely to use, does take some time to absorb into skin so if you're in a hurry I would avoid this and use another product. I think it's best to wait until moisturiser is fully absorbed before applying makeup otherwise foundation etc. doesn't apply as well and can slip off during the day.
The night moisturiser is wonderful, I can tell it's working and the "multi-defence" properties help to get rid of any dry patches. Also, all three products smell so good!

I'm sure everyone has heard how wonderful the Sanctuary skincare products are, and these are two of my favourites. The Warming Microbrasion polish has tiny little beads which heat up when rubbed into the skin, which is an amazing feeling. It acts as a face mask too, the heat opens your pores and leaving the mask on for a few minutes means the product thoroughly cleans pores. Amazing!
I also have the Polishing Hot Cloth cleanser, which I have had for a while - pre Liz Earle! I do like this product, but I don't feel it works as well as my Liz Earle version.
I probably only use this once every two weeks, and the heating mask once a week. Both are great products, which brighten your skin making it more radiant.

This little collection here is what I use every now and again, just for a change. I have always loved Bliss products, especially the Foaming Face Wash (I also have a full sized version) which has tiny little exfoliating beads to smooth skin. The face mask is also great, it has two sides (a blue and a yellow) which you mix from two separate pumps to form a green mask which you apply to your face. By mixing the two, this activates the exfoliating enzymes. I like to use this once a week or so to thoroughly clean my skin.
Other products I use occasionally are Elemis Tri-Enzyme Resurfacing Facial Wash, which I only have a small bottle of. I use this a few times a week in the shower, it used to be my favourite face wash but I don't use it so much anymore. I've gone off the smell a bit too, but it doesn't linger on your skin for long. This is a really nice wash, I think it helps clear up my skin too as it's quite gently and soothing.
I think everyone has heard of the Vichy Normaderm Anti-Imprefection Hydrating Care moisturiser. I only use it at night as it calms any break outs and gives a matte appearance to my skin, reducing the amount of oil. I've been using this for a while now, I used to use it every night but like I said, I like to rotate my products. I think this must be a Russian brand as when we were in Russia, there were so many adverts for this. I would recommend this if you do suffer from breakouts, I think it helps a lot.
I don't use it in the morning as it doesn't work well with foundation, but it works well overnight.
I also sometimes use Soap & Glorys Scrub Your Nose in it, but I haven't seen any fantastic results so I've only used this a few times.
The Body Shops Facial Brush is meant to be good for your circulation, it is to be used with a cleanser or face wash, and gently swept around the face in circular motions. Personally, I find this quite abrasive so I only use it once every two weeks, but I do feel like my skin is brighter after a few uses.
The Elizabeth Arden 8 Hour Cream is somewhat of a cult product, I use this when I have dry skin and sometimes as a lip balm. It does work well, but I don't often get dry skin so I never really find myself reaching for it too much.

So, that is my skincare range at the moment! If you'd like any more information on any of the products, let me know in the comments or email me.

Shop, shop, shop.

So, on monday I decided to go shopping in Aberdeen, the nearest city to me. I always find it's really good shopping in Aberdeen, it has all the shops you need (including a new Topshop) and it's not like shopping in one of the bigger cities. I find when I shop in Leeds, Glasgow or Edinburgh that all the popular items are gone really quickly. In Aberdeen, the competition is less fierce which means you can usually find a lot of stuff which has been sold out in the larger cities and online.
As it was nearing the end of the sales, I didn't bother much with them. I wanted the new season items!
So I got the Too Faced Natural Eye Palette and also a YSL Touche Eclat (first time purchase!) I haven't actually tried the palette yet, as I haven't really been anywhere that required eyeshadow. Really excited about it though, I love natural eye makeup!
I got a new boyfriend-style blazer, I've been looking for a new one for a while now and the Topshop version is around £60. This one is actually from F+F at Tesco (ha!) and was a tenth of the price (on sale at £6!) it looks really lovely on. I think I'll wear it out with a coloured mini dress and shoe boots. I also got this cute little sequin love heart clutch for £10 in the New Look sale. Adorable!

I picked up this cute black skirt at H&M, but I don't think I'll keep it. I have so many black skirts and this is just like every other one I have! I also got the belt from H&M, it's an elasticated waist belt which clips together at the birds noses. I really love it, I love swallows and this will go with so many outfits! The little clutch bag is from the New Look sale at just £2.
This dress is also from New Look (needs an iron eh. I'm so messy, I have a floordrobe) I'm really, really into Peter Pan collars at the moment. I think they're absolutely adorable. Coral, I have decided, is my colour of this season.

Another top and shirt from New Look. The first top also has a Peter Pan collar and is so lovely! I plan to wear this over a black body con skirt with thick black tights and some brogues. The shirt I'll probably wear tucked into a skirt with a tan thin belt around it and some gold jewellery and brogues again. Or with a pair of skinnies. It is quite sheer so I might have to wear a lace top underneath or something.
I also bought this top from New Look although I think I will have to change it for another size as it's a bit too big!

In other news, I got my delivery from ASOS!

I got a Models Own gift set, featuring an eyeshadow brush, eyelashes and a little pot of eyeshadow; a Yes to Carrots face mask; Soap & Glory Fab Pore Cleanser; and travel straighteners.
As I already mentioned, my boyfriend is a DJ and I often travel to gigs with him (Paris, Barcelona x2, Palma, Moscow, St. Petersburg and all over UK just last year!) and I'm scared my GHDs will get smashed up so I'm hoping these mini straighteners will be good enough to travel with.

Sorry for the excessive pictures, this was a massive post!

Christmas & New Year

As promised, here is a post about my christmas presents and I've added on New Years Eve. I had a good Christmas at home with the fam, usual chilled out, eating myself into a coma stuff.
Here are a few of the things I got for Christmas.
Soap and Glory boxset! This was this Offer of the Week at Boots, reduced from £60 to £25! I knew I had to have it. It's so lovely, I love all their products. They smell incredible!

Fisheye 2 Lomo Camera and a heap of film! Really happy I got this, I'm really into photography, especially film photography and this camera is so much fun. I'll post the photos once their developed.

Okayyy so I got a mac sleeve for my Macbook pro as the one I had is grey and orange (vom!) and I also got Chloe perfume (no one else seems to like this but I think it's amazing! It smells like sunflowers) and a Lush boxset - I am a massive Lush fan, it smells so good! And a cute little pink filofax.

I got a Wii! With New Supermario bros, Wii Sports Resort and Wii Party. I've been addicted to Supermario bros. but haven't really played the other games because no one will play with me haha. Going to take it down to my boyfriends house in Leeds when I next go, so I can beat him.

I got some cosmetic and beauty related books (and a copy of Vogue) I got the Jemma Kidd book which has excellent tips on applying makeup from the makeup artist herself. I also got the 21st Century Beauty Bible which is really good, it lists all of the best products from each category. I aim to get as many of the products in this book as possible. I got two Bobbi Brown books (although only one is shown here) which also has good makeup tips and the Liz Earle Skin Secrets. I am obsessed with trying to get nice skin so this book is really great for tips and advice.

My lovely boyfriend got me a box of Mac goodies for my birthday and Christmas. He also got me Harvest Moon for Wii, a topshop voucher and a chocolate making kit. So cute! Totally in love with this Mac giftbox though. I got the pro longwear concealer, strobe cream, mattifying cream and pro longlash mascara and a foundation brush!

So lovely! Really happy about all my new Mac products, the foundation brush is incredible. I really love the strobe cream and mattifying cream too. I will review this as soon as possible!

Okay so now you have seen some of the lovely things I got for Christmas, I will tell you about my new year. My boyfriend is a DJ so he was asked to play the biggest Hogmany party in the world (apparently) which is Edinburgh! The Edinburgh street party is (outside... chilly!) a really big thing, at midnight they let off a massive amount of fireworks from the castle on the hill. It's truly amazing. I was a bit excited as Biffy Clyro were playing the Concert in the Gardens too.
Overall, I had an amazing new year. Graeme, my boyfriend, was interviewed live on BBC News which was cool. He then played to approximately 60,000 people (possibly more).
There he is. What a cutie! I got some pictures from the front of the stage as well but I spent most of his set dancing in the front row. It was awesome to see so many people loving his songs.

Here's a terrible picture of me taken in our lovely posh hotel room. I've wanted this Topshop dress for so long, but it was sold out online and going for over £100 on ebay. I somehow managed to get a Petite size 8 and fit into it! I really love it.
Here's a bad quality picture of me before we went out. The light was bad in the hotel room :(

After Graeme played we watched a bit of Booka Shade who were playing after him, drank the booze from his rider and went to his sisters house for the bells, drink champagne and watch the fireworks. Overall a really amazing night!
